SUCCESS Academy Trust Land Report
Our School Land Trust plan will be two-fold and will center on improving students learning skills prior to their entry into our program. A critical need for students in an Early College High School program is a firm foundation in learning and study skills prior to entry into an academically-rigorous college-preparatory curriculum. In an attempt to ensure that our students are ready for this experience, we will be requiring students to be involved in a learning and study skills boot camp in August prior to the beginning of their 9 th grade year. This camp will focus on helping students to become effective learners. It will deal with the learning strategies and organizational skills necessary for success in a rigorous curriculum. We will also be requiring a summer math course for incoming 9 th grade students who have not had Algebra I or who had grades below a B in Algebra I their eight grade year. Solid math skills are critical to success in a program which has as its focus a science/math curriculum.
